Experience a day in the life of a family struggling to survive in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. This is the intimate story of a Burmese woman and her family of ten. Unable to survive in their home village due to economic repression by the Burmese military, she and her family relocate to neighboring Thailand in search of a new life. Leaving their lives as fishermen behind them, the family now depends on daily labor at the nearby Champion factory to survive.
The mother dreams of providing her children with the education she could never have. But, as the family falls into debt, her son considers leaving school for a factory job to help make ends meet. For both the mother and the son, there are no easy answers. Under the Sun allows the viewer to share in their struggle by opening a window into their lives.
